GRADE 2

This term, Grade 2s are learning about ‘Narrative Text’. They learnt about various parts of a Narrative and are getting used to planning their own story using the planning template. Last week they completed their first story and I was really happy with the quality of work produced by some of the students.

In Numeracy, we are learning about measuring ‘Mass’ of different objects using informal units. Students did a lot of hands on activities using the pan balance and MAB blocks.

On Thursday 26th October, we had an amazing incursion called “Zoo comes to you”. The students learnt about the life cycles and characteristics of various Australian animals and also got a chance to see and touch them.

In Integrated Studies we are learning about ‘Materials’. To reinforce their learning, Grade 2 students went on an excursion to ‘Twisted Science’ in Echuca on Friday 3rd November. They had fun doing experiments using different types of materials. The theme was ‘All Mixed Up’.

Here is a piece of ‘Narrative Writing’ from Gr 2 classroom.

The Nightmare

It all started on a warm and sunny day when I fell asleep on my favourite couch. All of a sudden cartoons from all over the world said, “ I want your life!!!” in the creepiest way.

After a while, I tried to wake up but I ended up in a jungle. I was starving. I yelled, “Help!” as much as I could. Then three girls called Elsie, Georgia and Alexa sneakily came to rip off the net I was trapped in.

We became such good friends that I wished I could stay longer but I had to figure out a way to get out of my dream. Then I knew what to do to get out of my dream. But before I could do anything, my brother poured icy cold water on me and I woke up!!!
